Capital Lakefair brings throngs of people to Olympia every July, for rides, music, cotton candy, and fireworks. The 90+ degree weather this year didn’t deter folks much. I spent my time on the fringes of the festivities, and nabbed a few images without being overcome by the aroma of garlic fries.
You can see the Lakefair happenings and rides on the far side of the lake in this image, with Puget Sound and the Olympia Mountains beyond.
With all the people at the fair, the Capitol campus was surprisingly quiet.
For many, the highlight of the weekend is the big fireworks show on Sunday night.
The fireworks crew setting up many, many tubes full of colorful exposives.
And, finally, the fireworks!
