Doing the Twist in Black & White

Twisted Maple Tree, Yoshiro Gardens, Olympia WA

This tree has drawn my attention on more than one occasion. Tucked away in a corner of Olympia’s Yoshiro Japanese Garden park, its manicured, twisted shape reminds me of a bonsai, though it’s actually 6 or 7 feet tall. On this day, the backlighting made for a perfect study of light and shadow, once some of the other park visitors moved on…
