Indian Smile

Woman in Delhi, IndiaMy first trip to India last year amazed me in many ways. One pervasive impression was how so much of Indian life is lived out in the open. While I didn’t experience the crowded crush of people I expected, I found that one is never far from other people. One won’t find deserted streets, and many streets are the scene of people playing, sleeping, working, watching, eating. This woman was one of many I saw working, repairing a sidewalk post with this devastating smile on her face as a (her?) child watched.  (1/800 sec., f/5.6, ISO 400)

Thanks HeatherCheryl (and John!). It was one of those amazing moments, seen from a (very slowly) passing vehicle, when the light and movement were perfect.

  3. I love this photo! And it’s a great entry for PhotoFriday this week.
